Apple plans to sell a clear case for the iPhone XR
Several weeks after Apple's big iPhone event, the leaks somehow keep coming.
Now, Apple has seemingly leaked its intention to launch its very own iPhone XR accessory line. And the most shocking part of the expected lineup: Apple could release its own clear plastic case.
Apple's iPhone XR accessories were first discovered by @ivanincanada on Twitter, who noticed that they were mentioned in the official iPhone XR press release posted on the company's Canadian Newsroom site. The listing says, "Apple-designed accessories for iPhone XR including a clear case will be available starting at $55 (CAD)."
What's especially peculiar is that the clear case is not mentioned in the US press release. It's unclear whether the company intends to launch the case only in certain parts of the world. Mashable has reached out to Apple for clarifications, and we'll update this post if we hear back.

A clear case makes sense for the iPhone XR since it comes in several colors (white, black, blue, yellow, coral and red). It would be a similar move to Apple's polka-dot cases for the iPhone 5C, which complemented the colorful design by letting some of it show through.
Silicone and leather cases will also likely be offered by Apple. Third-party clear cases from Speck start at $24.95, but we expect Apple's to be a little pricier than that, as is typically the case. iPhone XR pre-orders start on Oct. 19.
If Apple does indeed release a clear case, it will come as welcome option to new iPhone XR users. Let's just hope it doesn't pick up smudges as easily as some of the phones.
